Interactive scoreboard on addressable LEDs
Abstract
The article addresses the urgent problem of timely public notification during emergencies using modern IoT technologies. The author analyzes the limitations of traditional alert systems, such as mechanical sirens and broadcast networks, which often lack flexibility and fail to provide detailed information. The paper substantiates the development of an interactive display board based on addressable LEDs, capable of presenting visual signals, graphical messages, and complementary audio alerts. The hardware design employs an ESP32 microcontroller with integrated Wi-Fi and Bluetooth modules, enabling real-time data retrieval through the UkraineAlarm API. Visual indication is implemented with a WS2812B LED matrix, while audio feedback is supported by the MAX98357 sound module. The article provides a detailed description of the software architecture, including modules for network management, API communication, data visualization, and device configuration. Prototype testing demonstrated fast response times of approximately two seconds and stable operation even under unstable network conditions. The obtained results confirm the effectiveness of the interactive board as a tool for civil protection and emergency communication. Future research directions include expanding functionality with autonomous power supply, integrating mobile applications, and applying artificial intelligence algorithms for multi-source data analysis and threat prediction, thereby enhancing resilience and public safety.
